In the story good country people there is a misunderstanding between the characters. Hulga/Joy has a misunderstanding with the Bible salesmen. Hulga thinks that she is going to seduce the Bible sales and just kiss each other. But then it turns out that the Bible salesmen seduces her and takes her wooden leg. The Bible salesmen takes the wooden leg and puts it out of Hulga's reach. Hulga's misunderstanding that she was going to makeout leads her to lose her leg.
Then Mrs.Freeman and Mrs Hopewell think The bible salesmen is a nice person.
